The first ever New Orleans based community yoga outreach program!





Yoga For the People! 
Inspiration:

The Yoga For The People! Community Yoga Outreach program is inspired by a group of yogis from NYC lead by Katie McDonald that have served over 400 people in the area!  This will now be  local and  on-going beginning the week of June 16. Please let us know if you would like to participate in our program. Our teachers at Swan River Yoga Shala are here to serve you.


Yoga For the People! 
 Outreach Goal:

Yoga is thought to release stress, and facilitate an accelerated rate of healing of the physical body and psyche, so that we can all more fully enjoy our lives with a sense of ease, support, and delight in our community. Health and happiness  is our birthright. A supportive community is the foundation of a yoga practice.
This is what this program hopes to provide. This is an opportunity for our teachers to experience Seva; Compassion in action and selfless service. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to experience such  diverse depth of relationship within our great city and region by allowing us to reach.

Yoga For the People! 
What you need:
To assist, we will reach out to you! You must be able to proove that you are  a non-profit, community organization, and show that you are devoted to uplifting the growth and re-newal of our city and region. You will also need is a room large enough to house the yoga class that we will provide, ready for us to uplift you!

Yoga For the People! will provide:
We will provide 1 free weekly yoga class at your facility, with our hands-on, high quality local yoga staff that are ready to serve. The yoga class program will include simple breathing techniques, meditation tools, simples poses for releasing discomfort and increasing health, creating a network of like minded peace within your neighborhood and community, and more. It can be catered to the specific needs of the group.
We have the ability to teach all ages and all special needs.

No Yoga experience is necessary!

Your community group does not need any yoga experience to be elegible for our program! Apply now! Lets experience our community birthright together, leading  healthy and happy lives!

FREE Community Yoga Classes at Swan River Yoga Shala

We also offer a free/sliding scale community yoga classes at our location once a month, with our rotating teachers. Please spread the word, so that anyone feels welcome to come and experience the benefits of yoga by feeling at peace with one’s self, community, and lives. $5.00 suggested donation, or whatever you can afford. If it is difficult for you to afford a yoga class and it stops you from coming, this class is for you. Spread the word!
