Sacred Sound Reality Workshop.
Creating a sound reality with Keith Porteous and Michele Baker.
This workshop will be lead by Swan River Yoga Shala owners Keith Porteous and Michele Baker.
It will take place in 3 segments. 1. The art of vocalization 2. The sacred language of Sanskrit
3.Leading "Kirtan", call and response chanting, through the expression your voice. It is time to be heard!
Part I The Art of Vocalization
musical theory basics, breathing, tone, range, and tuned in listening
skills will be lead by Keith Porteous. Keith is a member of the
Yellow Dog Prophet Choir at Trinity Church, The Red Cross Choir,
and is a trained singer, sharing daily her devotional voice.
Part II The Art of Bhakti Yoga,
the yoga of devotion, learning the history, intention, foundation
and speaking Sanskrit, the language of the Gods. learning several
Sanskrit chants, and leading "Kirtan", call and response
chanting. Michele is a self learned bhakti yogini and practices and
shares daily the art of ecsatic chant. She will lead monthly kirtans at
the shala in the fall. Her name in sanskrit is "Vani Devi" , translated
as "the Goddess of sound and voice."

August 29 Annual Lokah Somasta Vigil and Community Yoga Class
6pm-8:30
Lokah Somasta Sukhinoh Bhavantu.
"May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts,
words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way, to that
happiness, and to that freedom for all." Swami Nirmalananda
This vigil is a time of remembrance, ritual, and celebration for the
continual cleansing and rebirth of our city, wishing all beings freedom
and happiness by remaining steadily connected to nature and all that
nature brings. All members of the community are invited.
6-7pm Chanting lead by Michele Baker and musical accompaniment by Aaron Lind
7-8:30 Jivamukti Yoga Community Class lead by Keith Porteous and assisted by shala teachers.
Cost: $5.00 suggested donation or free. Please bring a candle to inspire community intentions.
