Whos is this training for?:
Leaping Across is designed as a continuing education and Satsang opportunity for practitioners and teachers of yoga to enhance their relationship to the yogic practices. This may include:
• individuals who already teach yoga but wish to refine their ability to make the practices accessible to all, especially beginners and those outside of studio settings (such as in schools, prisons, community centers, parks, churches, etc.), and
• individuals who do not teach but wish to understand and experience the practice more deeply within their own bodies and experiences.

This is not sufficient training on its own to be able to teach others if you have not had any previous training.

Seva is Sanskrit for “selfless service.” Swan River Arabi is run by a group of individuals committed to seva. Seva is providing service and asking nothing in return. It is a powerful path that involves the process of balancing one’s responsibilities while setting one’s intention. We practice seva through mindful service with consciousness. Drawing inspiration from Hanuman, the avatar of Service, we will have conversations about what it means to commit to a path of seva.

The main focus of Leaping Across will be to address teaching beginners in two phases: those completely new to yoga altogether and those with some exposure but wishing to learn more about it, and to learn how to bring yoga outside of typical yoga studio settings.

Since we also consider teaching yoga as Seva to have a greater likelihood of encountering diversity in economic status, age, lifestyle, religion, health, body ability, body size, culture, ethnicity, sexuality, and gender identification, Seva School will also specifically address more accessible forms of yoga that encompass all levels and abilities. This will include learning to use props and modify poses and learning how to teach in a non-studio setting where there are no props, etc.
