Swan School Samasta Scholarship
Samasta is a Sanskrit word meaning “same standing.” To yogis long ago, this was the concept of equal rights. In honor of the efforts of all working to fulfill this vision, Swan River Yoga and Swan School will offer the Samasta Scholarship for the 2017 Swan School 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training.
In our western culture, yoga is often not represented as being inclusive of all beings. We wish to remedy the exclusive, illusory lifestyle marketing and dismantle cultural conditioning that too often limits yoga as a practice for the privileged. Swan River Yoga firmly advocates and encourages unity in diversity & we wish to do better at fostering an all-inclusive community. We feel that diversity and inclusivity honors the most sacred teachings of yoga and bolsters our studio’s mission for equal rights globally and universally.
We wish to offer this scholarship opportunity to an individual who faces discrimination due to sexual orientation/preference, gender identity, ethnicity or national origin, cultural heritage, religious background, former incarceration status, veteran status, body type, age, economic status or disability.
Swan River Yoga believes in the strength of community to heal the sense of otherness that many among us feel.
