Thai Yoga Therapy is a healing system with origins in Thailand and India 2500 years ago. It combines acupressure, compression, stretching, and is considered a passive way to receive a yoga session.
In a Thai Yoga Therapy session the recipient lies on a mat while the practitioner uses their hands, feet, elbows, and knees to release tension in the receiver's body. It's an incredibly accessible way for people to experience yoga if they have an injury or various disability.
The stretches and compression techniques promote relaxation, flexibility, and help bring the body into symmetry. These techniques help open up energy lines, called sen lines, improve circulation, relieve muscle tension, and improve overall well-being. Thai yoga therapy is done fully clothed and typically without creams or oils.
