Class Descriptions

Adaptive Yoga

Adaptive Yoga is yoga for every body. This class meets your body where it is, including bodies with limited mobility, flexibility and balance. Regardless of age, ability level or experience, you will be offered personalized adaptations of fundamental yoga poses. Each student receives support to enhance and deepen their mind-body connection. Props such as chairs, blankets, bolsters, blocks, and straps will be integrated to optimize the experience in each pose.

Beginners Yoga

For those entirely new to the practice. Develop strength and balance through emphasis on building the foundation of the pose, creating space in the spine, and aligning the general form. This class breaks down the asana poses succinctly, with proper use of props so they are safely explained, demonstrated, and experienced with modifications.

This class is appropriate for students with injuries and/or physical limitations.

Beginners: Level 2

For beginning practitioners or on-going students who desire alignment-focused, slower moving classes. This class explains and demonstrates asana poses succinctly and with safety. Building on strength and balance, and a spacious spine, this class includes clear form and actions, solid alignment techniques, strengthening in backbends, and a slow introduction to more weight bearing poses on the upper body without vinyasa flow.

Beginner’s Level 2 is offered virtually on Saturday at 9:30am. For in-person Beginner’s classes, please join us Tuesday at 9:15am and Wednesday at 4pm.

Come expand your mind and spirit with a multi-layered, unique drop-in class where you can connect with your Higher Self, experience new ways of clearing and protecting your energy body, and learn how it is all clinically backed by neuroscience. Each class is thoughtfully organized around a grounding meditation, a short lesson, and self-clearing. Honoring the teachers before us, these classes will draw from an eclectic variation of energy medicine practices, including Usui Reiki, the Hindu Chakra System, the Eden method, Trauma Resolution Energy Therapy, and basic lightwork.

Offered on Wednesdays, 12:30-1:30pm

Feldenkreis Method

Feldenkrais Method is a somatic practice that teaches awareness through movement. It is often practiced lying on the mat on your back, side, or front, each lesson takes about an hour. The lessons are slow and non competitive.

Feldenkreis method teaches greater ease of motion and more efficient movements by teaching the muscles that overwork to let go.

Some people come to it through recovery from injuries, others because they are curious about functional movement, and others because they are looking to address stress, tension, or anxiety.

Every single person benefits in unpredictable ways because people learn how to integrate and become more interested in their everyday movement functions, and their awareness starts to grow towards integration in their whole selves.

Kundalini Yoga

Known for its transformative benefits, the practice of Kundalini Yoga builds physical strength and stamina. With sustained practice, Kundalini Yoga enhances cognitive function, emotional fitness, and spiritual connection. Kundalini Yoga focuses on moving and transforming energy using a kriyā, or “action”, in Sanskrit. Kriyās are a specific sequence of yogic techniques and meditations to create a specific result through repetitive practice. Results could be physically evident, such as better digestion, or more subtle, such as experiencing an “open heart.”

Every class is built around a kriyā and will include prāṇāyāma, or breath work, āsana practice, deep śavāsana (relaxation), and dhyāna (meditation) that may include mudrās (hand positions), mantras (vocally repeated sounds) and mantras (silently repeated sounds), and dṛṣṭi (eye focus). Many people describe their experience after classes as exhilarating, euphoric, and powerful. Because classes focus on each student’s individual and internal teacher, Kundalini Yoga is open to any one of any skill level. People of any beliefs and from all walks of life are welcome to practice Kundalini Yoga.

Kundalini Yoga is offered in person on Monday mornings at 7:30am, and Thursdays at 4:30pm

Restorative yoga

This class invites deep nurturing, receptivity, self inquiry and a total slow down. Done low or lying down, there are no standing nor rigorous sequences offered. Originally created by Judith Hanson Lasater and influenced by BKS Iyengar, the use of props such as bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps and the wall gently eases one into opening the energy channels and centers over an extended period of time.

Created especially for those under stress, restorative yoga is a healthy means to decompress, recover from injury, unwind, and begin to process trauma. This practice offers the opportunity for conscious stillness, a release from multi-tasking, and the relief that comes from true, therapeutic slow-down.

For beginners, injury-recovery, stress reduction, special needs, prenatal and trauma recovery.

• Restorative Yoga classes reflect influences from the work of Judith Hanson Lasater, Iyengar, and Prajna Yoga.
• Props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks, straps, sandbags and chairs may be used.

Restorative Yoga is offered in person Tuesdays at 4:45pm & Fridays at 12pm

SATURDAY SWAN FLOW

This Swan Flow begins with a brief teaching, incorporating a story, song, or poem, which is then woven into the movement.  The movement warms up, builds energy to a peak, and winds down.  While this class is a medium flow, alignment cues are offered and all levels are welcome.  Modifications are always welcome.  Through movement and imagination, story and song, delve into a world where yoga is a somatic journey of heart compassion and soul belonging.

SATURDAYS 9AM-10AM

Slow Flow

Slow Flow is a physically present practice in between a beginner’s class and an open Swan River Flow class. This class will be challenging but available to all levels. Expect movement, breathing practices, balance poses, and restorative yoga to conclude your practice.

Swan Align

This class moves mindfully with a focus on alignment, skill, and integrity for greater embodiment and stability from the ground up. Poses will be highlighted for their anatomical structure and safety to support longevity. Depth of form is emphasized (more than flow) to empower the practitioner through awareness of misalignments and the biomechanics within each pose. Expect to learn clear physical actions plus creative, fun use of props, blocks, straps and the wall, to support the innate intelligence of the body. This class is appropriate for those seeking skillful alignment, support post-injury, and increased strength and flexibility to complement other forms of physical exercise. Breath-work, mantra, intention, and meditation may be interwoven throughout the sequence.

• Swan Align classes reflect influences from Prajna, Iyengar, and Jivamukti Yoga.

Swan Align is offered at multiple times Monday – Friday.  Please check our weekly class schedule for at time that serves you!

Swan Flow

This class offers an inspiring, challenging, invigorating flow-based sequence with attention to skillful alignment and mindful intention. Focused on movement, connection, fluidity and generating internal warmth, sun salutations are a part of every class. Poses are woven together through a led breath count. This class is appropriate for beginner to advanced students, yet having some experience may be better preparation for flow-based yoga since little stopping or demonstration takes place. Our Swan Flow classes balance creativity, play, alignment and skill. Breath-work, mantra, intention, and meditation may be emphasized.

• Swan Flow classes reflect influences from Ashtanga, Jivamukti, and Bhakti Yoga.

Swan Flow is offered on Sundays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Therapeutic Yoga

Yoga is for everybody and innately therapeutic in nature. In this class, we learn and
practice the universal principles of alignment and access the subtle body in order to cultivate healing and health. Personalized adaptations of fundamental yoga poses are offered using props to create safety in the body and nervous system, regardless of age, ability level or experience.

Therapeutic Yoga is suitable for students who may be experiencing limited mobility, injury,
illness, chronic pain, trauma, sleep disturbances, neurological conditions, autoimmune disorders, stress, depression, anxiety, etc. Each class will include intelligently-aligned Asana (physical postures), Pranayama (breath work), Dhyana (meditation), and Dharma (sacred teachings). In addition, sacred sound will be offered through Mantra (chanting) accompanied by harmonium. Each student receives support to enhance and deepen their mind-body connection.

Foster greater body awareness, improve immune functioning, recalibrate the nervous system, quiet mental chatter, increase mobility, improve posture and spinal health, improve organ function and allow yourself to experience wholeness in the present moment. When we invite our bodies to move in more intentional ways and with the right effort, the energy (Prana) flows more freely in the body. Through the medicinal practices of yoga, we can cultivate a greater sense of equanimity in the body and ward off disease. Come as you are and heal with us in community!
